Hortense “Tess” Mitchell is a native of Johns Island, South Carolina. She is a songwriter, playwright, and recording artist. However, more importantly, she is a child of God and the mother of four beautiful children. She initially tapped into her writing ability penning lyrics for the gospel singing group Simply Blessed. In 2010, Tess wrote her first stage play, “His Word Never Changes.” She has since added four additional stage plays, two albums, and a magazine to her list of credits. Her love for children along with her more than 25 years of working with them has inspired her to write her very first children’s book, The Crocodile and the Alligator. Her motivation comes simply from Proverbs 16:3: “Commit thy works unto the Lord and your plans shall succeed.”
